We are always on the lookout for experts in communication from all over New Zealand, who would enjoy a fulfilling role working in partnership with justice professionals and alike to ensure communication access. We value skills in on-the-spot analysis of speech, language and comprehension and providing strategies that ensure a child, youth or adult can participate to the best of their ability in what is often a foreign context.

Moretalk is one of two Nationwide providers of court-appointed Communication Assistants in New Zealand. We provide free initial foundation training and quality ongoing professional development as part of engagement with any sub-contractors.

Current opportunities in Blenheim, Marlborough & West Coast Regions

Experience needed

  1. The equivalent of 3 years of full-time experience in working with people with communication delays or disorders. Please note to meet Ministry Of Justice requirements this can mean you come from a background of the following professions: speech-language therapist, psychologist, occupational therapist, mental health specialist nurse, or specialist teacher.

Experience preferred

  1. At least 3 years of full-time experience working as a Speech Language Therapist. We have found this the best fit for the scope of the assessment, reporting and intervention requirements of the role.
  2. At least one year’s experience in a leadership role (for example):
  • Communication Assistant
  • Senior SLT
  • Team Leader
  • Service Manager
  • Tertiary Educator

Personal attributes

  • Respectful (for all judicial processes with the ability to maintain impartiality)
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong time management skills
  • Responsive and flexible
  • Authority, confidence and resilience
  • Calm under pressure and able to think of their feet
  • Excellence in report writing
